Nature

To keep busy, I have started to gain a little love for nature and the outdoors. Whenever it is nice out I try to go outside to go on a jog or a walk. I try to change the scenery of where I go either by doing a lap around my neighborhood, the park, my town, or a trail around my house. Each of these places have a different feel to me and make me want to do different things- meaning run, jog, or walk. Quarantine is probably the only time that I would have this opportunity of “me” time and focusing on myself and actually having the time to do it and not feel guilty. I think that it is important to take time for yourself and to not forget about self care and your personal health and goals.

Cooking

To keep busy, I have been cooking and finding many of my recipes off of tiktok believe it or not. I thought that sharing some of the things that I have cooked can maybe inspire you to want to try them, because they actually have been really good for such few ingredients and steps.

The first thing that I made and have even continuing to make are these 2 ingredient bagels. They are 127 calories for one and only 2 weight watcher points. Surprisingly they fill you up and dont make you feel bloated, like how it feels when eating a bagel sometimes.

Ingredients:

-2 cups of self rising flour

-2 cups nonfat Greek yogurt

Toppings:

-1 egg

-punch of sea salt

-1 teaspoon of water

-everything bagel seasoning

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375

Place parchment paper on baking sheet

Coat with cooking spray

In bowl combine flour and yogurt until it’s a shaggy dough

Dump mixture into floured surface- knead the dough by hand for about 5 min until smooth and elastic (if too sticky add more flour)

Divide dough into 8 equal parts- shape into ball and Make a hole in the center stretching and pulling

Arrange on baking sheet

Mix together egg, salt and water and brush over bagels then sprinkle toppings over bagels.

Bake for 20-22 min rotating the sheet midway through baking.

Remove from oven

Increase oven to 450 and bake for another 3-4 min up till bagels are browned.

Cool and enjoy!

The second hit item that I have been making are no bake tahini bars. These almost taste like a “healthy” peanut butter cup, and are HIGHLY addicting.

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter

3/4 cup tahini

1/4 coconut oil, melted

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/3 cup coconut flour

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

3/4 cup dairy free chocolate chips

sea salt flakes for the topping

Line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper.

Grease the inside first so that the paper sticks to the pan.

In a large mixing bowl, stir together:

3/4 cup of the peanut butter

 tahini

 coconut oil

maple syrup

coconut flour

 vanilla extract

Mix it well so its nice and smooth, then pour contents into the baking dish, and press it down evenly

Place the dish in the fridge.

Next, melt the chocolate chips and remaining 2 tablespoons peanut butter in the microwave

This should take about 2-3 rounds, 30 second intervals

Remove dish from the fridge

Just drizzle the chocolate all over the top and sprinkle the salt on it

Place the dish back in the fridge for at least two hours, I like them more hard so I usually put them in the freezer for a couple of hours then fridge!

Cut and Enjoy!

The last thing that I made that again are Banana Oat Pancakes, that are super easy to make!

Ingredients:

1 ripe banana

1 cup of oats

1 egg

1 scoop of protein power

Cinnamon for taste

Dash of salt

Dash of vanilla

Combine all together in a blender- add almond milk if needed

Grease pan with coconut oil- pour mixture into desired size rounds

After they are made, top with your favorite toppings and Enjoy!

If you decide to make any of these, please share with me how you liked them!

Mental Health

Mental health is a topic that many people do not take seriously and may not even think about day to day. I think that mental health is something that is very important and is the thing that pushes you to do your best. Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. This affects how we act, feel, and think. This can also help us handle stress and make certain choices in our life. Mental health is important yet different in every stage of life– from childhood to adolescences all the way through adulthood. There can be factors that contribute to how your mental health works or this can just come as you get older. Some factors include- family history, a trauma, and your genes. Mental health is very common, especially in many college students.

Positive mental health allows people to:

  • Realize that they are awesome and can do what they want
  • How to work efficiently
  • Help others
  • Ask for help!! Its ok!!

Ways to maintain positive mental health include:

  • Staying healthy
  • Connecting with your peers
  • STAYING POSITIVE!!
  • Never giving up
  • Helping other people
  • Figure out ways that help you cope

I think that talking to someone is a great thing- weather it be a councilor, friend, parent, or teacher- especially during these times.

Some conditions of mental health are:

  • PTSD
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self Harm
  • Bipolar

COVID-19

COVID-19 as you obviously know is the terrible disease that is going around everywhere in the world and day by day hopefully getting better and seeing less and less numbers of people that are dying. Sadly, three of my close friends got COVID and all survived thank god. Before knowing someone so close to me that got the disease, I viewed it as like it was not really a thing- and thought “this is something I won’t get!”. But that just was not reality, everyone can get it, and yes being younger we have a better rate of survival compared to someone who is 80 years old. I decided to talk about this because of all the effects that it is having on people, places, and just everything.

First off, with this disease it forced many local places to close down- this now leads to them loosing money from people that they fully relied on. Things that they are doing to help alleviate that is pick up and delivery. Yes, it is smart for them to close them down because they are putting our safe and health first.

Second, many people are loosing jobs due to places closing down and companies shutting down for this period of time to again make sure everyone is staying safe. This is having effects on families that have children and are being unable to pay for some certain things, and only focusing on the necessitates during this time.

Third, I think that college students were affected by this in a great deal. Not to sound dramatic, but it is almost like we had to just pick up all of our stuff and just leave. And just like that everything was gone and things were different. Online learning is NOTHING at all like being in a classroom. Personally, I do much better in a class room in a hands on environment, rather than having everything virtually. But hey, ya gotta do what you have to do. Again, all for the safety of everyone. I just hope we are allowed to go back in the FALL..

Also a good show to watch on Netflix- pandemic (explained)– I watched it with my dad and it is very informative and only about 20 min per episode if you are interested!

Stay well!

sTIr CRaZY!!!

Yup. I feel exactly as I wrote the title of this post. As you know, the past couple of weeks I have been totally out of it and down with pneumonia. Because of this I was sleeping all day and had ZERO motivation to do anything. Thank God I am finally starting to feel human and not like an alien anymore. I think that there are some pros and cons to this situation personally. Not that I like being sick AT ALL..BUUUT during this quarantine at least it made me feel like I was not just being lazy on purpose.. but technically was told to legit sleep as much as possible to feel better. Now that I am feeling better I feel bad if I wanna take a nap or not do anything. There is absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go and no-one to see- I feel like a hermit.

sorry for my rant I hope you enjoy.

these posts are great- they let you know we are all alive

& well!!

This sucks.

These past I guess now 3 weeks have been the worst ever due to my own personal heath wise and also what is going on in the world. I got tested for the COVID-19 which was possibly the most uncomfortable and weirdest pain that I have ever been in. Thankfully it came back negative, but of course instead of just being a cold like normal people, I got diagnosed with pneumonia. Yes, I guess I would rather have pneumonia over COVID19, but it was still a struggle to do daily things. Waking up was not a thing for two weeks, I was just in bed and as much as I tried to do things, my body was just saying NO, CHILL. So that’s why I decided to write this blog about how my past couple of weeks have been like.

  • sleep
  • drink
  • sleep
  • eat maybe
  • sleep
  • complain
  • take medicine
  • sleep some more

Holy Mountain Review

The first movie scene review blog post:

-Jesus Museum Scene

This was probably one of the weirdest movies that I have ever watched. To be honest during this quarantine, I have been so bored so instead of skipping through it I sort of watched the whole thing , skipping only some parts. This film takes a sarcastic take on everything that human beings have done with they’re believes in higher powers and in religion during a persons life.

The scene that I chose to analyze is the scene where they made statues of Jesus in a factory. When Jesus sees this he gets furious and enraged. He walks through the factory in rage and starts to hit and attack the statues, making them loose ligaments and be damaged.

I think that the producer of this movie could have made this scene less dramatic with the noises that were being used. I also think that the editing and transitioning from scene to scene was unclear and jumped from place to place making it harder for the viewer to follow and grasp what is going on. I think that this movie presents a simple message told in a VERY complex way.

The central theme of the film is the corrupted nature of mankind and the happiness one can find in simple daily life. He makes his film to show mankind WORST traits, instead of highlighting the positives. This is just one of the many themes that are hidden in this film. I think that by the author portraying it like this sort of grabs the viewers attention in a way to keep them engaged and wanting more.
